Guevarra: Man posing as Marcos spox Rodriguez traced at Bilibid maximum compound

The National Bureau of Investigation has traced an inmate who supposedly posed as the spokesperson of presumptive president Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the New Bilibid Prison.

In a message to reporters, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra confirmed the arrest of Ryan Ace Castillejo, also known as Jose Villafuerte.

"Confirmed... suspect was traced by the NBI special action unit (SAU) at the NBP maximum security compound where he’s serving sentence for two counts of qualified theft,” Guevarra said.

“Found in his possession were a mobile phone and notebooks containing names of possibly past or prospective victims,” he added.

According to a post-operation report of the NBI, the suspect posed as Atty. Vic Rodriguez on Facebook and “has been defrauding BBM supporters to send money allegedly used for relief operations.”

He also gave victims bank accounts and also asked for P120,000, which was supposed to go to victims of typhoon Agaton.

“Presently, said FB account is defrauding unsuspecting victims through solicitations for an alleged victory party,” the post report read.

SAU later identified the suspect and traced him to the NBP maximum security compound, where it retrieved one black notebook, one green notebook, one yellow notebook, a coverless tickle pad, and one wood with improvised hidden cellphone storage.

The NBI agents further found out that the suspect was also posing as "Vicente Danao Jr." and Louise Liza Araneta Marcos."

Meanwhile, some of the names included in one of the notes were former Vice President Jejomar Binay, Customs Commissioner Rey Guerrero, and Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto.

There was also no SIM card inside the phone. The search for a SIM card also yielded negative results.

According to the NBI, SAU will also coordinate with the Bureau of Corrections to determine how the suspect was able to obtain a phone.

The NBI will also verify the suspect’s real identity for the possible filing of using a fictitious name and falsification of documents.

The mobile phone of the suspect will be submitted for data examination to establish the identities of his cohorts and extent of his transactions.

Guevarra, meanwhile, said Castillejo will be charged with cyberfraud.—AOL, GMA News
