Galvez: 2nd booster shot for OFWs, uniformed personnel being sought

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said Thursday they have already sent a request the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to allow second booster shot for overseas Filipino workers and uniformed personnel.

Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, Galvez said some manning agencies advised OFWs including seafarers to have a fourth vaccine dose against COVID-19 for their deployment.

“Hinihingi rin po namin sa FDA na i-extend yung second booster sa mga OFWs at saka seafarers at saka yung uniformed personnel na deployed sa mga critical areas,” he said.

(Also, we are asking the FDA to extend the second booster shots to OFW, seafarers, and uniformed personnel who are deployed in critical areas.)

On Wednesday, the Department of Health announced that senior citizens and frontline healthcare workers may now avail their second booster shot against COVID-19.

Aside from them, immunocompromised individuals are also authorized to receive a second booster shot.

Earlier, Galvez recommended hastening the approval of second booster shots for more sectors of the population to further expand the country’s vaccination coverage.

As of Wednesday, at least 68,838,393 people are already fully vaccinated, while 13,732,500 have received their booster dose, according to the DOH. —LBG, GMA News
