Galvez tests positive for COVID-19

Vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. on Sunday announced that he and his family are in isolation after he tested positive for COVID-19.

Galvez said he tested positive in his weekly RT-PCR test on Sunday, May 22, and is currently experiencing mild symptoms, adding that he remains in “high spirits” as he and his family are fully vaccinated.

“I would like to apologize to the people whom I have come in contact with over the last five to seven days. I encourage them to have themselves tested and observe their health conditions,” he said.

“While I am under isolation, I will continue to monitor the country’s peace processes and vaccination efforts,” the Presidential Peace Adviser continued.

Galvez also called on the public to get vaccinated as soon as possible, and for those already vaccinated to take their booster shots.

Latest data available from the Department of Health (DOH) indicate that the Philippines has so far administered a total of 149.119 million doses of COVID-19 doses as of May. — BM, GMA News
