PNR: San Pablo-Lucena route to reopen before June 30
The Philippine National Railways (PNR) is set to reopen for the commuting public its San Pablo, Laguna to Lucena, Quezon route before the Duterte administration steps down on June 30.
At a virtual press briefing, PNR general manager Junn Magno said that “before June 30, we will reopen.”
“We already tested the Lucena to San Pablo [route],” Magno said.
The PNR San Pablo-Lucena route is a 44-kilometer inter-provincial commuter railway, which was part of the commuter train service to Bicol with stations and flag stops for daily commutes or short travels.
It ceased commuter operations in October 2013 after the collapse of an abutment.
Magno said the fare is seen to be less than P100 for the route and the travel time will be between one hour and 15 minutes and one hour and 30 minutes.
The San Pablo-Lucena route will have two terminal stations and four flag stops in between, according to the Department of Transportation. —VBL, GMA News
