PCOO under Marcos eyes accreditation of vloggers for Palace briefings

Incoming Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) chief Trixie Cruz-Angeles will be pushing for the accreditation of vloggers to attend briefings in Malacanang.

"We are pushing for the accreditation of vloggers to be invited to some of the briefings, especially those conducted by the President-elect," Angeles said during the Laging Handa briefing.

A similar effort of giving accreditation to bloggers was also broached during the administration of then President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, but it did not gain ground.

Aside from accrediting vloggers, Angeles said the incoming PCOO favors opening up discourse and increasing efficiency for state-run broadcasting networks PTV-4 and IBC-13.

"We are looking at opening up discourse, looking at the issue of misinformation because it seems like a hot button nowadays. We are looking at these issues when we prioritize projects for the PCOO," she said.

"That [migration to digital TV for state networks] is [also] the plan. But we need to find the money first. We want to upgrade but also to be more efficient," she added.

Angeles also said that the regular Palace briefings will be done once to twice a week.

"We will conduct more [briefings] if needed," she said.

"We're not going to limit it of course, if necessary we will have more briefings," she added.

Angeles, however, could not say if all journalists will be allowed to be physically present to cover events graced by Marcos.

"We have to review the existing policy first as to how appropriate they are for the current times," she added.—AOL, GMA News
