No permits issued yet for protests vs Marcos, Sara inaugurations —PNP

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said local governments units  have not issued permits so far for any protest on the day of the inaugurations of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President-elect Sara Duterte.

“Today, we have not yet received any communications coming from the primary areas like Manila and Quezon City, that includes Davao City,” PNP director for operations Police Major General Valeriano de Leon said at a press conference.

“No permits have been issued by our local government units as of this time,” he added.

In a statement, De Leon said the PNP is coordinating with Manila and Davao City governments as well as with nearby local government units for the implementation of the “no permit, no rally” policy.

He said PNP’s Civil Disturbance Management will ensure that illegal rallies would not be able to get close to the event to disrupt the proceedings of the oath-taking.

Manila Police District chief Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco said around 7,000 to 8,000 cops will be deployed to secure Marcos’ inauguration at the National Museum of the Philippines on June 30.

Meanwhile, the San Pedro Square in Davao City is being readied for the inauguration of Sara Duterte on June 19.

"The strength of PRO 11 is enough to contain the security required for the oath-taking of Vice President-elect Mayor Inday Sara Duterte," De Leon said.

Earlier, PNP officer-in-charge  Police Lieutenant General Vicente Danao Jr. warned protesters that they would be arrested if they obstruct traffic and damage government property during their rallies.

“Sabi ko nga, kung kinakailangan na paghuhulihin namin kayo dahil nakakatrapik na rin kayo at saka nakakasakit kayo ng ibang tao, lalo na't naninira kayo ng properties lalo na ng gobyerno, definitely the rule of law will be strictly implemented,” he said.
