Comelec deletes Eleksyon 2022 ballot faces from NPO servers

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday deleted the ballot faces that were used for the 2022 national and local elections from the servers of the National Printing Office (NPO).

Comelec Education and Information Department director James Jimenez explained that the poll body must remove the ballot faces from the NPO servers as their operations at the state printing agency were already over.

"In order to do that, to exit from the NPO completely, one of the last things that we need to do is we need to remove Comelec data from the NPO server," Jimenez said

"Ang mangyayari ngayon (what will happen now) is to delete these [ballot faces] from the servers of the NPO and this is preparatory to finally pull it out of the NPO kasi tapos na po ang trabaho ng Comelec dito sa (because the job of the Comelec is already done here at the) NPO. Again, this is the ultimate step, after this step, ang pagtanggal ng ating information sa NPO, pull out na tayo," he added.

Aside from the "precinct-specific" ballots used for the 2022 elections in the country, Jimenez said the Comelec will also wipe out the ones that were used for their roadshow, the test ballots, as well as the ballots which were used for the overseas voting.

The deletion of the ballot faces from the NPO servers is also a "signal" that the 2022 national and local elections is finally over.

The Comelec official said the poll body will still keep a copy of the ballot faces and other data which they shared with the NPO.

He explained the need to vacate the NPO so the agency could use the facilities for other projects.—AOL, GMA News
