DOH warns public on circulation of old face mask advisory
The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday warned the public against an old circular advising the public to limit the use of face masks to prevent its shortage.
In an advisory, the DOH clarified the circular dated February 8, 2020, which encourages healthy individuals not to wear masks “no longer applies to the current situation” as health experts already discovered the dreaded COVID-19 may spread through the air.
“Hence, the correct health advice today is to always wear a face mask even under Alert Level 1, and especially when going to confined spaces with poor ventilation, crowded places with no physical distancing, and close-contact setting,” the health department said.
“Apart from wearing the best-fitting mask, be sure to isolate when sick, double up protection with primary doses and boosters, and ensure good airflow to remain protected against Covid-19,” it added.
The DOH also urged the public to continue adhering to the minimum health standards and only obtain and share information from verified sources.—Sundy Locus/AOL, GMA News
