Jinggoy Estrada takes oath as senator
Returning Senator Jinggoy Estrada took his oath of office before Supreme Court Associate Justice Samuel Gaerlan on Tuesday, June 28.
He was accompanied by his family and parents, former president Joseph “Erap” Estrada and ex-senator Luisa Ejercito.
During the campaign period, the younger Estrada batted for the increase of minimum wage amid the rising prices of fuel products and consumer goods.
He also vowed to promote a hybrid work setup by filing a measure that would establish the rights and obligations of employers and workers under the system.
A law, Republic Act 11165 or The Telecommuting Act, already exists as early as December 2018, which allows an employee in the private sector to work from an alternative workplace with the use of telecommunication and/or computer technologies.
The senator-elect made his comeback after garnering 15,108,625 votes in the recent elections. His half-brother, Senator JV Ejercito, also won a Senate seat in the 2022 polls.—Sundy Locus/LDF, GMA News
