Woman, dog in UniTeam-inspired outfits catch attention at Marcos’ inauguration

A 25-year-old woman and a dog caught the attention of some spectators with their UniTeam-inspired outfits during the inauguration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the National Museum of Fine Arts on Thursday.

Sheryl Patalinhog Velez from Mandaluyong went to the oath-taking ceremony wearing a red and green gown and a headdress made from recycled materials.

Velez said she designed the gown herself and it took a month to finish.

“Actually, itong gown na ‘to gawa siya sa isang uri ng recycled materials. 'Yung nanay ko kasi mahilig kasing mag-ipon ng mga ganito, ng mga delata, ng mga sangkap so naisipan gawin ko na lang na design,” she told reporters.

(Actually, this gown was made of recycled materials. My mother likes to collect things like these, cans, and other materials so I thought I should use them as design.)

She said she chose the color red and green as tribute to the campaign theme of Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte. According to Velez, her family supports Marcos.

Velez said she decided to go to the event with this gown to be noticed by the new president.

“Gawin ninyo po akong little Imelda Marcos cute (Make me as little Imelda Marcos cute),” Velez said.

Aside from her, some spectators also turned their heads to a little dog wearing a BBM-inspired shirt. According to the owner, the dog is named Nano.

Nano matched the BBM shirt with a cap and sunglasses.

Around 7,000 people, including VIPs, attended the inauguration, Manila Police District spokesperson Police Major Phillip Ines said. —AOL/VBL, GMA News
