Positive rate up in NCR, 9 other areas —OCTA


COVID-19 positivity rate continued to climb in the National Capital Region and nine other areas, with Cavite registering the highest increase, according to independent monitoring group OCTA Research on Friday.

In a tweet, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said Cavite’s positivity rate jumped to 13.2% as of June 29 from 5.9% as of June 25.

NCR's positivity rate, meanwhile, rose to 7.5% from 6.0%.

The World Health Organization's (WHO) benchmark positive rate is 5%.

Positivity rate refers to the percentage of people who were found positive for COVID-19 among the total number of individuals tested.

The same OCTA data also showed increase in the respective positivity rate of Laguna, Batangas, Benguet, Bulacan, Cebu, Davao del Sur, Iloilo, and Pampanga.

Rizal's positivity rate, meanwhile, decreased from 11.9% to 9.7%.

The Philippines on Thursday recorded 1,309 new COVID-19 infections, the highest daily tally since February 25 when 1,671 COVID-19 new cases were reported.

The latest number brought the total number of COVID-19 cases to 3,704,407. —KBK, GMA News
