Former First Lady Amelita "Ming" Ramos on Thursday thanked those who paid their last respects at the wake of her late husband, former President Fidel V. Ramos.

According to Jonathan Andal's report on "24 Oras", the former first lady remembered how Ramos worked diligently when he was alive.

“Thank you very much for coming. I didn’t realize we have so many friends," she said.

"He worked hard. And now, he deserves to rest,” she added.

Several government officials and colleagues of the former president in various organizations were scheduled to visit his wake at the Heritage Park in Taguig City.

Earlier in the day, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and other officials went to the wake to pay their respects.

Among those who went to the Heritage Park were Executive Secretary Atty. Victor Rodriguez, Energy Secretary Rafael Lotilla, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo Jr., Senator Francis Tolentino, Senator Ramon Revilla Jr. and wife Cavite Rep. Lani Mercado, former Senate President Vicente Sotto III, and former Vice President Leni Robredo.

The late executive chief’s wake will be open to the public from Sunday to Monday.
