Cynthia Villar tested positive for COVID-19 — Zubiri

Senator Cynthia Villar has tested positive for COVID-19, Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri said Tuesday.

"We just like to put on record that our distinguished colleague Senator Cynthia Villar has tested positive today for COVID-19. We would like to wish her well and pray for her speedy recovery and for all our members to also be extra careful in this time where COVID is still surging," Zubiri said during the plenary session.

Villar was the third senator who contracted the respiratory disease after Alan Peter Cayetano and Imee Marcos since the start of the 19th Congress on July 25.

Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva prayed for Cayetano, Marcos, and Villar to recover quickly.

The three lawmakers were allowed to attend the plenary session on Tuesday through video conference. —VBL, GMA News
