DOH logs 3,484 new COVID-19 cases; active tally dips below 40K


The Philippines on Monday monitored 3,484 fresh COVID-19 cases, bringing the total nationwide tally to 3,835,422.

Based on the latest Department of Health (DOH) bulletin, the country’s active infections slightly decreased to 38,982 after three straight days of more than 40,000 active cases. 

An additional 4,473 individuals recovered from the viral disease, increasing the total recoveries to 3,735,362. The death toll likewise rose by 42 to 61,078.

Metro Manila recorded the highest number of new cases in the last 14 days with 15,888. It was followed by CALABARZON with 10,148 and Central Luzon with 5,276. Western Visayas monitored 2,823 cases while Cagayan Valley reported 2,388 fresh infections.

DOH said 16,131 individuals were tested for the coronavirus on Sunday, August 14.

Three hundred fifty-seven testing labs submitted their results on the same date. — Sundy Locus/BM, GMA News
