Senate names 4 more committee heads

The Senate on Tuesday elected the chairpersons of four more committees in the 19th Congress.

During the Senate session Tuesday, the lawmakers elected Senator Jinggoy Estrada as the chairperson of the Committee on Labor, Employment and Human Resources Development while Senator Sherwin Gatchalian was named as head of the Committee on Basic Education.

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano will lead the Committee on  Science and Technology while Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda was installed as the chairperson of the Committee on Culture and Arts.

In the 18th Congress, the Committees on Basic Education and Culture and Arts worked as one committee but the Senate on Monday adopted a resolution dividing it into two.

The Senate has yet to name the chairpersons of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges and the special committee on Marawi Rehabilitation.—LDF, GMA News
