Missing sabungero kin: We were offered P1 million to abandon search
After 35 cockfight enthusiasts or sabungeros went missing over half a year ago, a relative of one of the missing sabungeros called for an investigation after they were offered P1 million in exchange for waiving their right to search for their missing kin.
"Yung nago-offer sa amin ng P1 million, gusto po namin malaman kung saan nanggagaling yung ganoong impormasyon," said the relative in Emil Sumangil's Monday "24 Oras" report.
"Pag tinanggap po namin ang P1 million, wala na raw po kaso, may pipirma raw po kaming waiver," added the relative.
Aside from holding prayer vigils, the relatives were also looking to meet with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. so that they could speak to him about their concerns and distress.
"Baka po nakakaligtaan po nila na nandito po ang grupo namin na kumakatok pa rin po," said Janina Pilarta, wife of the missing John Claude Inonog.
Meanwhile, a source from the special investigation task group created to look into the missing sabungeros told GMA News that they were expanding and expediting their investigation.
Furthermore, the Highway Patrol Group, Intelligence Group, Anti-Kidnapping Group, and Anti-Cybercrime Group would be taking part in the special investigation.
The source also said that they were trying to identify a person who was seen withdrawing money from a bank using the ATM card of one of the missing sabungeros.
They had also found an informant who could shed light on the cases of the missing cockfight enthusiasts. — DVM, GMA News
