The Supreme Court on Tuesday announced that work in its different offices would be suspended on Wednesday, August 24, following the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Florita.
In a memorandum, the SC said it was suspending work following the announcement by Malacañang on the suspension of government work and classes in all levels in public schools in Metro Manila and nearby provinces from Tuesday until Wednesday.
"In light of the announcement of the Office of the President suspending government work and classes in all levels in public schools in Metro Manila and nearby provinces including Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, Bulacan, Zambales, and Bataan from Tuesday until Wednesday due to the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm 'Florita,' as recommended by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, suspension of work will be implemented in the different offices in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, August 24, 2022," read the memorandum, which was signed by Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo.
"The suspension will prevent any untoward incidents and will ensure safety of the Justices, officials and employees," it said.
The SC also suspended work in all first- and second-level courts in Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, Bulacan, Zambales, and Bataan beginning 3 p.m. Tuesday until Wednesday.
