NDRRMC: Over 4K people affected by Florita


A total of 4,646 people or 1,344 families in Regions 1, 2 and the Cordillera Administrative Region were affected by the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Florita, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Wednesday.

In its 8 a.m. situational report, the NDRRMC said there were 956 displaced individuals or 311 families staying inside 19 evacuation centers, while 573 people or 154 families in the said regions remained outside evacuation centers.

Meanwhile, 1,013 people or 290 families in Region 2 and CAR were pre-emptively evacuated.

Three (3) landslide incidents and one vehicular accident were reported in Region 1, while two landslide incidents were reported in Region 5, the NDRRMC said.

Six (6) areas in Regions 1 and 5 have been flooded, 20 have subsided while four were receding.

Seven roads (7) and seven bridges were not passable in Regions 1, 2, 5 and CAR. Ten (10) roads, which were previously reported as not passable or only one lane was passable, were already passable.

The NDRRMC reported that a total of 13 cities or municipalities experienced power interruption or outage. Power supply in five cities or municipalities has been restored.

Only one city or municipality experienced water supply interruption or outage, and one area in Region 1 continued to experience communication outage or issues.

Two (2) domestic flights were canceled, but have since resumed.

Nine (9) ports have been non-operational or have suspended their trips.

A total of 275 cities or municipalities in Regions 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and CAR suspended classes, and 98 cities or municipalities in the same regions suspended work.

Family food packs, kits and hygiene kits, and tents amounting to a total of P915,176.5 were provided to Regions 1 and 5 and CAR. 

Meanwhile, Pasig City temporarily closed on Wednesday the outpatient department of its COVID-19 referral facility due to the heavy rains brought by Severe Tropical Storm Florita.

The city’s public information office, however, said the facility will continue accepting emergency cases in order to provide immediate care among the patients.

The outpatient department of the facility will resume operations on Thursday, the Pasig City government said.— Jamil Santos/Richa Noriega/RSJ/AOL, GMA News
