TESDA urges public to take virtual course on COVID-19 prevention

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on Wednesday urged the public to avail of its free online course on COVID-19 prevention.

TESDA Director General Danilo Cruz said educational institutions may take the online course designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among students and teachers as face-to-face classes resume.

“This course is available at e-tesda.gov.ph and can be easily accessed by the public anytime and anywhere using their internet-capable smartphones, computers, or laptops,” Cruz said in a statement.

At the onset of the pandemic, TESDA developed an online course “Practicing COVID-19 Preventive Measures in the Workplace” which was integrated into its TESDA Online Program (TOP).

The course has been among the most popular courses in the TOP.

In 2020, more than 142,000 completed the course, while another 383,826 took it in 2021, the agency said.

Cruz said TESDA has linked free online courses about COVID-19 management from other open sources, such as the “Contact Tracing Course” of the Johns Hopkins University,  “COVID-19: How to put on and remove personal protective equipment (PPE)” and “Standard precautions: Hand hygiene” of the World Health Organization (WHO), among others.

On Monday, learners from all over the country started flocking to schools as in-person classes for School Year 2022-2023 officially started amid the pandemic.

The number of enrolled learners for this year increased to 28.7 million on Tuesday, surpassing the Department of Education’s (DepEd) target of 28.6 million.—LDF, GMA News
