Walk-ins still flock to DSWD central office for education aid
Despite the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) earlier announcement that walk-ins will no longer be accommodated in the distribution of financial assistance to indigent students, many still took their chances and flocked the agency’s central office in Quezon City.

Luisito Santos reported on Dobol B TV on Saturday that people still went to the headquarters of the DSWD in Barangay Batasan Hills even though the payout center was already moved to the National Vocational Rehabilitation Center (NVRC) in Project 4.
The report said that most of those who queued up outside DSWD’s central office have not yet received a confirmation text and were only taking their chances to get the educational assistance as walk-ins.
On Thursday, the DSWD said it will no longer be accepting walk-ins for the financial assistance program of indigent students, on the heels of the huge crowds of students and parents who flocked to the agency's main and regional offices last Saturday.
Those who want to receive the cash assistance were advised to register online or email them at ciu.co@dswd.gov.ph.
The applicants can also visit the DSWD website and social media accounts for other details. —LBG, GMA News
