NDRRMC: Florita infrastructure damage nearly P500M


The damage to infrastructure brought by Severe Tropical Storm Florita is now close to P500 million, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday.

In its 8 a.m. situational report, the NDRRMC said the cost of 102 damaged infrastructures in the Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley now stood at P498,980,000.

Most of the damage, involving 93 infrastructures, was in the Ilocos Region amounting to P474,580,000.

Cagayan Valley had nine damaged infrastructures worth P24,400,000.

According to the NDRRMC, the Department of Agriculture reported P3,414,672 in damage to the Ilocos Region’s agriculture sector due to Florita.

Meanwhile, the National Irrigation Administration reported P10,850,000 damage in Calabarzon.

Nine roads in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and Bicol Region, and three bridges in Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley also remained impassable.

A total of 72 houses were also affected by the storm—-47 of which were in Cagayan Valley, 24 were in Ilocos Region, and one from the CAR.

Of these 72 affected houses, 68 were partially damaged, and four were totally damaged.

At least 31,936 families or 129,768 people were affected in 486 barangays in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, CAR, and the National Capital Region (NCR).

A total of 286 displaced families or 993 individuals have remained in 20 evacuation centers.

Meanwhile, 167 displaced families or 617 individuals are also staying outside of evacuation centers.

The reported death toll remained at three while the number of reported injured individuals was at four as of Monday.

The NDRRMC said that a total of P7,701,996.21 worth of assistance were already provided to affected individuals in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, CAR, and NCR.

The aid consisted of family kits, hygiene kits, family food packs, and tents, among others. —Giselle Ombay/KBK, GMA News
