Florita damage to infrastructure now at P571M — NDRRMC


The estimated infrastructure damage due to Severe Tropical Storm Florita has now breached the P500 million mark, according to a National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) report on Tuesday.

The NDRRMC said the cost of 192 damaged infrastructures both in the Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley is now at P571,100,000.

Figures showed that the majority of these damaged infrastructures were roads, followed by flood control structures, government facilities, bridges, and health facilities.

Ilocos Region posted the most damage involving 183 infrastructure amounting to P546.7 million.

Cagayan Valley, on the other hand, had nine damaged infrastructures worth P24.4 million.

The amount of affected crop areas, damaged infrastructure, machineries, and equipment in Ilocos Region, as reported by the Department of Agriculture, also jumped to P13,028,205.

The National Irrigation Administration also recorded three partially damaged infrastructure in Calabarzon due to Florita worth P10,850,000.

A total of 95 houses were also damaged—81 partially and 14 totally—in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

With this, 294 displaced families or 1,013 individuals have remained in 21 evacuation centers.

Meanwhile, 172 displaced families or 809 individuals are also staying outside of evacuation centers.—AOL, GMA News
