Philippines logs 1,558 new COVID-19 cases, lowest daily tally since July 12
The Department of Health on Wednesday logged 1,558 new COVID-19 infections, the lowest daily tally in over a month.
The previous lowest daily tally was on July 12 with 1,363 cases.
The country’s COVID-19 tally now stands at 3,880,229.
Active infections further decreased to 24,181 from 26,168 on Tuesday.
The National Capital Region topped the regions with the most cases in the past two weeks with 10,781, followed by Calabarzon with 5,188, Central Luzon with 3,430, Western Visayas with 1,828, and the Davao Region with 1,465.
A total of 3,441 individuals were classified as recoveries, bringing the total to 3,794,234.
Forty-one new fatalities were reported as the death toll climbed to 61,814.
As of Tuesday, the bed occupancy rate in the country was 28%, with 8,116 beds occupied and 20,920 vacant.
A total of 18,400 individuals were tested on Tuesday, while 322 testing laboratories submitted data. —VBL, GMA News
