DOH logs 3,767 new COVID-19 cases, active tally drops to 22,259


The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday recorded 3,767 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the country’s caseload to 3,883,957.

This came after six straight days of fewer than 3,000 new cases and was a significant increase from the 1,558 confirmed cases on Wednesday.

Active cases, however, dropped to 22,259, the lowest in 42 days or since July 21 (22,207).

The top regions with the most cases in the last two weeks were the National Capital Region with 10,600, followed by Calabarzon with 5,157, Central Luzon with 3,452, Western Visayas with 1,734, and Cagayan Valley with 1,440.

An additional 5,600 patients survived the disease—the highest number since February 16’s 6,130 new recoveries—pushing the recovery tally to 3,799,834.

The death toll increased to 61,864 with 50 new fatalities. The DOH has reported at least 40 new deaths for the tenth day in a row.

The DOH said 21,167 individuals were tested on Wednesday, while 322 testing laboratories submitted data.

As of Wednesday, the national bed occupancy rate was 27.8%, with 8,049 beds occupied while 20,924 were vacant. —VBL, GMA News
