Nearly 1,500 people affected by Henry —NDRRMC


A total of 1,491 individuals or 494 families were affected by Typhoon Henry, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Monday.

In its 8 a.m. report, the NDDRMC said the affected population were from 16 barangays in Ilocos, Cagayan, Central Luzon, and Cordillera.

“Ang napuruhan talaga ay 'yung ating nasa Region 2, 'yung Batanes, 'yung parts of Cagayan. Pero we can say na very minor ang effect nito sa kanila,” NDRRMC spokesperson Assistant Secretary Bernardo Alejandro IV said in an interview on GMA News’ Unang Balita.

(The most affected areas are in Region 2, Batanes, and parts of Cagayan. But we can say that the typhoon only had a very minor effect on them.)

A total of 140 displaced people or 32 families were staying outside evacuation centers, while 13 individuals or three families took shelter in evacuation centers.

At least seven houses were reported damaged in Cordillera, according to the NDRRMC.

Seven roads and a bridge in Ilocos and Cordillera are still not passable to motorists. A total of 24 roads that were previously not passable are now passable.

The power supply in 12 affected cities and municipalities have been restored, the NDRRMC said.

At least six motor bancas are currently stranded in Cagayan, according to the NDRRMC.

A total of 27 cities and municipalities suspended classes, and nine canceled work schedules due to the threat of the typhoon in Ilocos, Cagayan, and Cordillera.

The death toll due to Henry remained at one, which was reported in Ilocos. —KG, GMA News
