SWS: Duterte ended term with +81 ‘excellent’ net satisfaction rating

Former President Rodrigo Duterte ended his term with a record-high +81 net satisfaction rating, according to the Social Weather Stations (SWS).

In a report published on its website, the SWS said that its survey conducted from June 26 to 29, the last days of the Duterte administration, found that “88% of adult Filipinos satisfied, 5% undecided, and 7% dissatisfied with the performance of Rodrigo R. Duterte as President.”

“Compared to April 2022, gross satisfaction with President Duterte rose by 10 points from 78%, gross undecided fell by 4 points from 9%, and gross dissatisfaction fell by 6 points from 13%,” the polling firm said.

“The resulting net satisfaction rating is +81 (% satisfied minus % dissatisfied), classified by SWS as excellent,” it added.

The June survey results were 16 points above the very good +65 in April 2022 and a new record-high that surpassed the previous record of +79 in November 2020, the polling firm said.

The SWS said the 16-point rise in Duterte’s overall net satisfaction rating from April 2022 to June 2022 “was due to increases in all areas.”

In particular, the former chief executive’s net satisfaction rose from “very good” to “excellent” in Metro Manila, up by 22 points from +63 to a new record-high +85, surpassing the previous record of +76 in November 2020.

In Balance Luzon, SWS said Duterte’s net satisfaction rating also improved from “very good” to “excellent,” up by 15 points from +60 to a new record-high +75, exceeding the previous record of +73 in November 2020.

In the Visayas, the former President’s popularity, likewise, moved up from “very good” to “excellent,” rising by 28 points from +55 to a new record-high +83, which surpassed the previous record of +79 in December 2019.

Duterte remained “excellent” in Mindanao, up by 7 points from +83 to +90, according to the SWS.

The former President was also rated “excellent” in urban areas, among both men and women, all age groups, all educational groups, and among hungry families or those who experienced involuntary hunger.

The SWS said it used face-to-face interviews of 1,500 adults, 18 years old and above, nationwide —300 each in Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao, and 600 in Balance Luzon.

The exact phrasing of the survey question is as follows:

— DVM, GMA News
