Senate suspends work due to Super Typhoon Karding


The Senate over the weekend announced the suspension of session and work in the chamber for Monday, September 26, given the expected heavy rains from Super Typhoon Karding (international name: Noru).

In an advisory, Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri said the suspension will only cover for the Monday schedule.  On Tuesday, September 27, 2022,  the session will resume at 3 p.m.

A weather advisory indicates that heavy to torrential rains is expected over Metro Manila and surrounding areas until Monday afternoon.

State weather bureau PAGASA placed at least two areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 5, indicating that winds of over 185 kilometers per hour are expected in at least 12 hours.

Several other areas in Luzon were also placed under other TCWS levels, with Karding expected to make landfall in the northern portions of Quezon or the southern portion of Aurora on Sunday night.

Classes in several areas on Monday, September 26, have already been canceled, along with a number of flights. —LBG, GMA News
