Comelec suspends work in Luzon areas due to Karding

The Commission on Elections on Sunday announced the suspension of work in several areas in Luzon, due to the expected inclement weather conditions caused by Super Typhoon Karding (international name: Noru).

In an advisory, the Comelec said the work suspension will be implemented on Monday, September 26, covering Regions III, IV-A, IV-B, V, and the National Capital Region.

“The public is hereby informed that the issuance of voter’s certification and all other frontline services in the aforementioned areas are therefore suspended,” the advisory read.

PAGASA had placed at least two areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 5, indicating that winds of over 185 kilometers per hour are expected in at least 12 hours.

Several other areas in Luzon were also placed under other TCWS levels, with Karding expected to make landfall in the northern portions of Quezon or the southern portion of Aurora on Sunday night.

Classes in several areas on Monday, September 26, have already been canceled, along with a number of flights. — DVM, GMA News
