The oral arguments on the No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP) have been rescheduled to December 6, 2022, a month earlier than the initial schedule, the Supreme Court announced Thursday.

The High Court said the arguments were rescheduled to December 6 at 2 p.m. from January 24, 2023.

Meanwhile, it set the preliminary conference on November 04, 2022 at 2 p.m.

“The Supreme Court likewise ordered that the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) be furnished a copy of the Petitions, and thereafter file its comment within 10 days from receipt of notice,” it said.

In November, the Court issued a temporary restraining order against the NCAP being implemented in Manila, Quezon City, Valenzuela, Muntinlupa, and Parañaque, immediately prohibiting any apprehensions through the NCAP programs and ordinances.

This was after transport groups Kapit, Pasang Masda, Altodap, and the Alliance of Concerned Transport Organizations filed a petition against local ordinances related to NCAP in the five cities.

A lawyer also asked the high court to declare unconstitutional and issue a TRO against Manila City Ordinance No. 8676, which covers the policy. — Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA News
