2,197 new COVID-19 cases logged; active tally at 27,065


The Department of Health on Saturday logged 2,197 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the total caseload to 3,965,865.
 
This was the third straight day of more than 2,000 new infections reported. However, Saturday's COVID-19 tally was lower than the 2,409 infections recorded on Friday.
 
Active cases dropped slightly to 27,065 from 27,129 on Friday.

The top regions with the highest number of new cases in the last 14 days were the National Capital Region with 12,587, followed by Calabarzon with 5,331, Central Luzon with 2,811, Davao Region with 1,327, and Western Visayas with 844.
 
The recovery tally further increased to 3,875,570 while the death toll stood at 63,230.

A total of 16,208 individuals were tested on Friday, while 333 testing laboratories submitted data.
 
As of Friday, the national bed occupancy rate was 25.9%, with 7,456 occupied and 21,295 vacant beds. — VBL, GMA News
