Two minors rescued from pimp in sting operation
Two minors being prostituted were rescued by operatives in a sting operation which led to the arrest of one of their pimps.
During the operation, the pimp brought along with her two minor females— ages 13 and 16—to a vehicle where two undercover operatives were seated.
The transaction took place inside the vehicle, where the operatives bargained for a cheaper price as they earlier agreed to pay P12,000 for three females, but only two arrived.
The pimp was arrested as she exited the vehicle.
According to Quezon City Police District Station 14 Investigation Chief P/LT Anthony Dacquel, the suspect is part of a group that prostitutes children.
“Ang transaction nila is online, meron silang group, group chat para diyan sa mga pagta-transact ng prostitution sa mga minor,” he said in a report on GMA’s “24 Oras Weekend” on Sunday.
(Their transactions are done online. They have a group, a group chat for the transactions where they prostitute minors.)
One of the fathers of the minors said the child told him she was going to attend a birthday party, and he did not know that she was instead being prostituted.
“Hindi ko po alam na ganon po ang nangyari. Lagi rin po akong nasa trabaho din po eh, ngayon ko lang din po nalaman din na ganon, na binubugaw siya,” he said.
(I did not know that that is what happened. I am always in work, and I just knew of this now that she is being prostituted.)
The operatives also nabbed the driver of the tricycle used by the pimp and operatives, who denied any knowledge in the activity.
“Service ko lang po ‘yan sir, sumakay lang po ‘yan sa akin sir,” he said.
(That was just a service, they just hired my tricycle.)
The suspects will face charges of child trafficking and child abuse.
For his part, Dacquel urged parents to keep an eye on their children, and monitor their activity on their devices. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
