DOH logs 2,097 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 26,357
The Department of Health (DOH) logged 2,097 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, with the active tally at 26,357.
This was the fourth straight day of more than 2,000 new infections reported. However, Sunday's tally of new COVID-19 infections was lower than the 2,197 infections recorded on Saturday.
The country’s active tally also decreased slightly to 26,357 from Saturday's 27,065.
Meanwhile, Sunday's new cases pushed the nationwide caseload to 3,967,861.
Among the top regions with the highest cases in the recent two weeks were the National Capital Region with 12,159 followed by Calabarzon with 5,359, Central Luzon with 2,709, Davao Region with 1,421, and Western Visayas with 869.
Meanwhile, there were 2,670 patients defeated the viral disease, increasing the recovery tally to 3,878,240.
The country’s death toll also increased to 63,264 with 34 new fatalities.
At least 13,404 individuals were tested, with 362 testing laboratories submitting data as of Saturday, October 8.
The bed occupancy in the country stood at 25.6%, with at least 7,335 beds occupied and 21,288 beds vacant. — DVM, GMA News
