De Lima back at PNP Custodial Center cell after hostage-taking incident — PNP

Former Senator Leila de Lima has returned to her original detention cell at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center after the October 9 hostage-taking incident, the PNP said Friday.

PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo told GMA News Online that De Lima was brought back to the facility on Thursday evening.

“Atty. Leila De Lima was brought to PNP Custodial Facility around 7 p.m. of October 13, 2022,” Fajardo said in a message.

According to Fajardo, De Lima decided to go back to her original cell, where the hostage-taking took place. She also requested to have a female security escort at her quarters.

“Accordingly, Atty. De Lima executed a waiver and signified her intention to go back to her original detention quarters and requested that a female security escort be detailed to her quarters,” she said.

De Lima was temporarily transferred to the PNP General Hospital after being rescued from the hostage-taking incident.

On Sunday, three detainees — Arnel Cabintoy, Idang Susukan, and Feliciano Sulayao Jr. — tried to escape from the PNP facility and stabbed Police Corporal Roger Agustin, who was serving their food.

Cabintoy and Susukan were shot dead by a police officer while Sulayao was able to run and took De Lima hostage.

Headquarters Support Service Director Police Colonel Mark Pespes was able to neutralize Sulayao during a negotiation.

On Friday, Senator Imee Marcos appealed to the Department of Justice (DOJ) to consider granting an extended medical furlough at home to De Lima, who is facing drug-related charges.

De Lima's lawyer  Atty. Filibon Tacardon on Monday said they are studying possible home furlough for the former senator— RSJ, GMA News
