OCTA: Seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate down to 15% in NCR
The seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) went down last week but the indicator remained “very high” in some provinces, independent monitoring group OCTA Research said on Tuesday.
OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said on Twitter that NCR’s positivity rate decreased from 17.9% on October 8, to 15% on October 15.
According to David, several provinces reported positivity rates above 20%. These include Camarines Sur (46.2%), Cavite (22.8%), Laguna (21%), Rizal (22.1%), South Cotabato (26.9%), Tarlac (41.6%) and Zambales (22%).
Positivity rate refers to the percentage of people who were found positive for COVID-19 among the total number of individuals tested.
David said the reproduction number or the number of people infected by one case in the capital region rose to 1.03 as of October 14 from the 0.93 recorded on October 12.
Reproduction rate refers to the number of people infected by one case. A reproduction number that is below 1 indicates that the transmission of the virus is slowing down.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday said it monitored 15,314 fresh COVID-19 infections in the country from October 10 to 16, 2022.
The DOH on Tuesday announced the detection of 81 cases of COVID-19 Omicron XBB subvariant and 193 cases of the XBC variant in the Philippines. —NB, GMA News
