Philippines logs 943 new COVID-19 cases, lowest in three months


Daily COVID-19 cases in the Philippines dropped to a three-month low on Tuesday, data from the Department of Health showed.

A total of 943 new infections were recorded for the day, the lowest since July 5’s 832 cases.

Active cases also went down to 21,924 from 22,850 on Monday.

The new cases brought the nationwide tally to 3,996,818, while the number of recoveries increased to 3,911,048. 

Thirty-two new fatalities were reported as the death toll climbed to 63,846.

In the past two weeks, the National Capital Region (NCR) had the highest number of new cases with 6,939, followed by Calabarzon with 3,866, Central Luzon with 2,295, Western Visayas with 1,564, and Davao Region with 1,362.

As of Monday, the bed occupancy rate in the country was 24.9%, with 7,125 occupied and 21,487 vacant beds. 

A total of 13,426 individuals were tested on Monday, while 342 testing laboratories submitted data. — VBL, GMA News
