DSWD starts Paeng relief distribution in BARMM, Calabarzon areas

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) started the distribution of family food packs in regions affected by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng, Secretary Erwin Tulfo said Sunday.

Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, Tulfo said they focused on distributing relief items in the Bangsamoro Region, particularly in Maguindanao and Cotabato, on Saturday.

“Dito naman sa Luzon, inuumpisahan na namin ang delivering sa…Quezon, Rizal, Batangas. Nako-contain na po namin ‘yan, napapadalhan na ho ng pagkain,” he said.

(Here in Luzon, we started delivering in... Quezon, Rizal, and Batangas. We have already contained the situation there as the food is being sent.)

He said the food packs for a family of five would be good for three days. Manufacturing of these family food packs in DSWD’s production centers was also continuous.

DSWD Undersecretary Eduardo Punay said Thursday that the agency pre-positioned over 500,000 food packs in preparation for Paeng.

Tulfo said they were also seeking the help of the Philippine Coast Guard to deliver relief items through their rubber boats.

Other agencies like the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) also provided personnel to help in the repacking of food items. — DVM, GMA News
