PNP: No serious, credible threats ahead of Undas 2022
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has not received any credible and serious threat to the national observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, its spokesperson said Monday.
“So far, we have not received any credible and serious threat to disrupt the observance of Undas this year,” PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo told GMA News Online.
“Nonetheless, the PNP remains vigilant and the majority of our personnel are deployed nationwide in various areas of convergence and are ready to provide security and other public safety services and are to respond to any eventualities,” Fajardo said.
Several visitors began flocking to cemeteries around the country to avoid the expected huge crowds on November 1.
Last week, the PNP said it placed all of its stations nationwide on full alert as part of the security measures for Undas.
Fajardo said the police will maintain its status “in anticipation of a large number of people who are expected to visit different cemeteries nationwide this long weekend” especially due to the inclement weather brought about by severe tropical storm Paeng and tropical storm Queenie.
PAGASA said Paeng had already exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) while Queenie entered PAR early Monday. — Sundy Locus/RSJ, GMA News
