OVP donates 100 sacks of rice for Laguna Paeng victims

A hundred sacks of rice for the victims of Severe Tropical Storm Paeng in San Pedro, Laguna were donated by the Office of the Vice President-Disaster Operation Center (OVP-DOC) on Tuesday.

Around 1,211 locals took shelter in the city's six evacuation centers due to Paeng, the OVP said, citing the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

CSWDO San Pedro, Laguna Head Maria Fatima Autor said that the local government planned to send an initial portion of the donations to the barangays of Cuyab, San Roque, and Landayan.

“Ito pong 100 sacks of rice na ito ay sisiguraduhin po ng ating city government, sa pangunguna ni Mayor Art Mercado, na makakarating po bawat butil niyan sa alam natin na nangangailangan at mga pamilyang nakababad pa hanggang ngayon ang kanilang mga bahay sa tubig,” she added.

(We will ensure that every grain of these 100 sacks of rice will reach the families in need and whose houses are still flooded.)

San Pedro City Mayor Art Mercado also thanked the OVP-DOC for the relief assistance which was the first conducted under Vice President Sara Duterte.

Volunteers from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Air Force (PAF) led the relief operations in the city. — DVM, GMA News
