Rape suspect arrested in cemetery in Palawan

In separate police operations, three wanted suspects in alleged rape cases were arrested.

One was caught in a cemetery visiting a loved one's grave.

According to John Consulta's report on "24 Oras," the Police Regional Office 8 immediately took action to capture the most wanted in Region 8 for an abduction and gang rape case in Southern Leyte.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said the suspect and four other accomplices allegedly abused the victim in November 2014.

“Napag-alaman natin na ito ay dadalaw sa puntod ng kaniyang mahal sa buhay doon sa sementeryo kaya hindi na tayo nag-atubili pa nang malaman natin kung saan siya pupunta. Agad po natin itong sinundan,” said Police Colonel Reydante Ariza, chief of the Regional Intelligence Division-PRO 8.

In a separate operation, a suspect with a rape warrant for abusing his child in Northern Samar in 2010 was captured.

Another suspect was also nabbed for raping his two minor children in 2021. The police were able to track his hiding place in Pasig City.

Meanwhile, efforts are being made to get statements from the three suspects.—Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA News
