Russian minister extends sympathy to Paeng victims
Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov expressed his condolences over the tragic consequences of Tropical Storm Paeng, which caused numerous casualties and property damage in parts of the country.
"I ask you to convey the words of deep sympathy to the families of the victims and the wishes for a speedy recovery to all those affected by the disaster," he said via Telegram.
On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported the number of reported fatalities from Paeng (Nalgae) reached 121.
Most fatalities were reported in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), with 61 deaths, 29 in Western Visayas and 12 in Calabarzon.
However, only 92 of the total reported fatalities had been confirmed, as the rest are still for validation.
NDRRMC said that at least 103 people were injured, and 36 were reported missing. It added that a total of 3,180,132 individuals or 927,822 families in 7,341 barangays across all regions were affected by Paeng.—Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA News
