OVP extends relief operations to Paeng-affected areas

The Office of the Vice President’s Disaster Operations Center (OVP-DOC) on Friday launched relief operations simultaneously in different Typhoon Paeng-affected areas throughout the country.

In a statement, the OVP-DOC partnered with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the local government units to deliver sacks of rice, relief goods, bottled water, and clothing to affected areas in Cavite, Maguindanao, Antique, Leyte, Zamboanga City, and Cotabato City.

Volunteers from the Inday Sara Duterte Ako (ISDA) movement also joined the relief operations.

“In behalf of the people of Bacoor, Cavite, nagpapasalamat po kami kay Vice President Sara sa kanyang naitulong. Alam kong marami silang tinutulungan at natutulungan ngayon,” Bacoor City Mayor Strike Revilla said.

“Nagpapasalamat po kami sa inyo, ma’am, sa pagtulong sa ating kababayan. Umasa po kayo, ma’am, na nandito lang po kami kapag kailangan niyo po kami,” he added.

The Bacoor City Social Welfare and Development Office reported that 69 of its 73 barangays, with 99,157 families, were heavily affected by the typhoon. —Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA Integrated News
