Philippines records 1,229 new COVID-19 cases, active tally at 17,123
The Philippines monitored 1,229 new infections on Saturday, although the active tally went down to 17,123, data from the Department of Health showed.
This came after four straight days with fewer than 1,000 new infections.
Active cases dropped to 17,123 from 18,085 on Friday, while the nationwide COVID-19 tally stood at 4,008,550.
In the past two weeks, the National Capital Region had the highest number of new infections with 3,666.
It was followed by Calabarzon with 2,262 cases; Western Visayas with 1,543; Central Luzon with 1,298; and Central Visayas with 922.
The recovery tally increased to 3,927,187 after 2,165 patients recovered from the viral disease.
The country’s death toll rose to 64,240, with 29 new fatalities.
As of Friday, the national bed occupancy rate was 24.5%, with 6,963 occupied and 21,468 vacant beds.
A total of 12,843 individuals were tested on Friday, while 334 testing laboratories submitted data. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
