NCR COVID-19 positivity rate went down slightly, OCTA Research says


The seven-day positivity rate of COVID-19 in the National Capital Region has decreased slightly as of Saturday, independent group OCTA Research said on Monday.

From the 8.2% positivity rate on November 5, the rate went down to 7.5% on Nov. 12, OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said in a post on Twitter.

The positivity rate refers to the percentage of people who were found positive for COVID-19 among the total number of individuals tested.

The said rate also went down in Batangas, Cavite, Davao del Sur, Iloilo, Misamis Oriental, Rizal, South Cotabato, and Zambales, OCTA said.

However, it went up in Cagayan, Camarines Sur and Pampanga.

According to data shared by OCTA Research, the positivity rates as of Nov. 12 are as follows, based on information from the Department of Health:

  • NCR: 7.5% (from 8.2% on Nov. 5)
  • Aklan: 36.3% (from 33.2% on Nov. 5)
  • Bataan: 14.3% (from 13.1% on Nov. 5)
  • Batangas: 6.3% (from 7.3% on Nov. 5)
  • Benguet: 32% (from 33% on Nov. 5)
  • Bulacan: 6.4% (from 6% on Nov. 5)
  • Cagayan: 14.2% (from 8.4% on Nov. 5)
  • Camarines Sur: 33.3% (from 29.8% on Nov. 5)
  • Cavite: 10.1% (from 13% on Nov. 5)
  • Cebu: 11.6% (from 10.8% on Nov. 5)
  • Davao del Sur: 8.7% (from 15.3% on Nov. 5)
  • Iloilo: 10.2% (from 12.6% on Nov. 5)
  • Isabela: 44.1% (from 43.9% on Nov. 5)
  • La Union: 15.8% (from 15.1% on Nov. 5)
  • Laguna: 14.4% (from 13.7% on Nov. 5)
  • Misamis Oriental: 24.6% (from 28.8% on Nov. 5)
  • Negros Occidental: 14.8% (from 14.9% on Nov. 5)
  • Pampanga: 11.2% (from 9.6% on Nov. 5)
  • Pangasinan: 14.0% (from 14.3% on Nov. 5)
  • Rizal: 10.3% (from 14.5% on Nov. 5)
  • South Cotabato: 8.2% (from 12.7% on Nov. 5)
  • Tarlac: 30.3% (from 31.1% on Nov. 5)
  • Zambales: 7.6% (from 11.3% on Nov. 5)

 

The Philippines recorded 1,858 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, November 13, even as the positivity rate declined in the previous week, the Department of Health (DOH) reported. 

The new additional cases brought the country’s active cases to 19,176, and the total caseload to 4,018,253.

There were 346 new recoveries, bringing total recoveries to 3,934,690.

The five new deaths brought the total COVID-19 deaths to 64,387 deaths.

The positivity rate for the past week covering November 6 to 12 was recorded at 10.4%, lower than the 11.3% seen in the previous week, the DOH said. —KG, GMA Integrated News
