Philippines posts 1,122 new COVID-19 cases


The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday recorded 1,122 new COVID-19 cases even as the active tally went down to 18,864.
 
This was the third straight day that fewer than 2,000 new cases were reported.
 
The new infections took the overall tally to 4,024,956, while the active tally dropped from 19,267 on Friday.
 
In the past two weeks, the National Capital Region registered the highest number of new infections with 3,525.
 
It was followed by Calabarzon with 2,058; Western Visayas with 1,577; Central Luzon with 1,193; and Central Visayas with 1,114.
 
The DOH said the country’s recovery tally rose to 3,941,624 with 1,551 new recoveries.
 
The death toll has risen to 64,468 with the addition of 10 new deaths.
 
As of Friday, the national bed occupancy rate was 23.2%, with 6,583 occupied and 21,791 vacant beds.
 
A total of 12,084 individuals were tested on Friday, while 334 testing laboratories submitted data. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
