Japan turns over to the Philippines equipment for COVID-19 vaccination

The government of Japan on Friday turned over medical equipment to the Department of Health (DOH) in support of COVID-19 vaccination.

DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire led the turnover ceremony of donated medical and cold chain equipment at the Lung Center of the Philippines.

“These equipment are a much needed addition to our arsenal to reinforce our ongoing efforts to respond to COVID-19," Vergeire said.

"Through this, we can further expand our campaigns in order to reach more vulnerable sectors of the population, contributing to our common goal of ending COVID-19 globally,” she added.

“Truly, this gesture of solidarity by Japan reflects our common ethos of building global communities and brings us one step closer to our shared aspiration to win the fight against COVID-19," Vergeire said.

The Japanese government has already provided P3 billion or more than JPY 37B assistance in the form of donations and official development assistance projects as of October 10. —NB, GMA Integrated News
