What advantage do women leaders have? Sara says they know more pain

Women know more pain than men and this gives them an advantage when it comes to leadership, Vice President Sara Duterte indicated on Thursday.

In an interview on SMNI, Sara was asked what advantage women had in terms of leadership.

“A woman knows more pain than a man,” Sara said.

“Number one, if a woman has not had a child yet, she knows more pain than a man because a man causes woman so much pain," she added.

"When a woman goes through so many heartbreaks… The woman becomes formidable,” Sara said.

“Then when a woman goes through childbirth…  The entire nine months of pregnancy… The woman knows that kind of pain,” she added.

Sara said she believed women were strong at heart because of all the pain that they had to go through and endure.

“Naisip ko lang, siguro ‘yung luha ng mga babae around the world because of heartache and heartbreak, mag-cause siya ng climate change,” Sara said.

(I just thought, maybe the tears of women around the world because of heartache and heartbreak, would cause climate change.)

LGBT

Sara said she identified herself as a member of the LGBT community, admitting she had “cycles” when she wanted to look masculine.

She said this was the reason why she cut her hair short at times.

“Kaya ko nasasabi na LGBT ako, it’s because there are days na gusto ko maging lalake. Not lalaki na magkakagusto sa babae, pero lalaki ang itsura. Then, gusto ko mag-motor motor ganyan and gusto ko kausap ko mga lalaki,” Sara said.

(That's why I can say that I'm LGBT because there are days when I want to be a man. Not a man who likes a woman, but a man who looks like a man. I also want to ride motorcycles and talk with men.)

“Hindi ko rin siya ma-explain. I’ve never tried to seek out an explanation. Feeling lang talaga siya na dumadating sa’kin na one day nagigising ako, gusto ko maging lalaki. So, tanggalin ko lahat ng buhok ko to make myself look masculine,” Sara said.

(I can't explain it either. I've never tried to seek out an explanation. I just feel that one day when I wake up, I want to be a man. So, I remove all my hair to make myself look masculine.)

On the other hand, Sara said she would just put on makeup when she wanted to be feminine. —NB, GMA Integrated News
