Marcos cites media's role in galvanizing public support for gov't programs

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday acknowledged the role of media in nation building, and cited its role in galvanizing support for government programs.

Marcos said his plans and ambitions for the country can only be achieved with the unified effort of Filipinos, and this will be possible as media brings the government's message to the public.

“So the pledge of support and to bring our message to the people is an important one. It is something that those of us who are in government consider to be an integral part of whether or not we are successful or not,” Marcos said during the courtesy call of Radio Mindanao Network officials in Malacañang.

“And by that, I mean that we need to know that everyone understands what we are trying to do, everyone understands what they can do to help, everyone understands why and the method of what we are trying to achieve. And that is the most important thing for us,” he added, according to a press release issued by the Office of the Press Secretary on Saturday.

Bringing the government's message across is key to galvanizing citizen support for them to work with the state, private sector, small communities, the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and all other sectors to attain development, Marcos said.

When the public gets the information and the message is out there, people will put their shoulder behind the wheel and work toward a collective goal, he added. —KG, GMA Integrated News
