Makati street open to two-way traffic until Sunday
MAKATI, Philippines - The stretch of J.P. Rizal St. from Nicanor Garcia St. (formerly Reposo) to Makati Ave. has been opened to two-way traffic until Sunday, March 23. Hermenegildo San Miguel, Makati Department of Public Safety (DPS) director, said the traffic measure aims to make way for the nooks or kubols on the streets of Barangay Poblacion. "The building of kubols is part of the annual rituals observed in the old communities of Makati during Holy Week," he said. Kubols are miniature calvary replicas set up in different areas of Poblacion where residents congregate for the pabasa, or the singing of the passion of Jesus Christ. Mr. San Miguel said around 20 kubols were put up in Poblacion with statues of saints belonging to Makatiâs prominent families. He added that the number coding scheme will be lifted today (Maundy Thursday) and Good Friday. - BusinessWorld
