619 new COVID-19 cases recorded, active tally down to 13,825


The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday recorded 619 new COVID-19 cases, while the active tally went down to 13,825.

This came after two days straight of fewer than 300 COVID-19 infections were reported, while the active infections dropped from 13,995 on Thursday.

The new cases, meanwhile, pushed the nationwide tally to 4,063,316.

The National Capital Region (NCR) remained the region with the most cases in the recent two weeks with 3,983 infections logged.

It was followed by Calabarzon with 1,776, Central Luzon with 874, Western Visayas with 480, and Ilocos Region with 346.

The recovery tally increased to 3,984,159, while the death toll also climbed to 65,332 with 23 new deaths.

The country’s bed occupancy increased to 18.7%, with 5,133 beds occupied while 22,316 were vacant as of Tuesday, December 27.

A total of 9,547 individuals were tested, while 336 testing labs submitted data as of Wednesday, December 28. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA Integrated News
