Ex-NSA Carlos denies submitting report on onion smugglers, hoarders to Marcos

Former National Security Adviser Clarita Carlos on Monday denied that she submitted a report to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. identifying the personalities supposedly linked to smuggling and hoarding of onions.

“Diyos ko, sobrang kabalbalan niyan. Noong una, tinatawanan ko lang 'yan. Ngayon, yamot na yamot na ako. Bwisit na bwisit na ako diyan. Walang basis yan,” Carlos said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB.

(My God, that’s too much stupidity. At first, I was laughing about it. Now, I am annoyed. That has no basis.)

According to Carlos, it is the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) that should be asked if it has submitted such a report to Marcos.

Carlos called on those behind the information about the supposed report to stop. “Nag-resign na ako. Tantanan na nila ako (I already resigned. Leave me alone),” she said.

The speculations emerged after Carlos resigned from her post as National Security Adviser and transferred to the Congressional Policy and Budget Research Department of the House of Representatives.

A Senate inquiry was launched to investigate the high prices of onions in the country.

Marcos, who is also the Department of Agriculture secretary, said he did not believe there were people who plotted to have Carlos removed as National Security Adviser.

“She felt that there were people who were moving against her in government. Ako, I didn’t. I kept telling her, I don’t really think so,” Marcos had said. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
